USDA Crop Progress Report – 2025 Growing Season Update

Today, the USDA released the 11th Crop Progress Report for the 2025 growing season. This article summarizes the latest data on corn, soybeans, wheat, and oats as of June 15.

Corn

As of June 15, 94% of the corn crop in the top 18 corn-growing states had emerged, matching the five-year average. Notably, North Carolina has reached 100% emergence, being the first state to do so.

The condition of the national corn crop is as follows:

• Good/Excellent: 72%
• Fair: 23%
• Poor/Very Poor: 5%

Soybeans

According to the USDA, 93% of the soybean crop across the top producing states had been planted by June 15, slightly behind the five-year average of 94%. Louisiana and Minnesota have both completed 100% of their soybean planting.

The emergence rate is currently at 84%, ahead of the five-year average of 83%. The condition of the soybean crop is as follows:

• Good/Excellent: 66%
• Fair: 27%
• Poor/Very Poor: 7%

Winter Wheat

As of June 15, 93% of the winter wheat crop had headed across the top 18 states, slightly above the five-year average of 92%. However, only 10% of the crop has been harvested, trailing the five-year average of 16%.

The condition of winter wheat is as follows:

• Good/Excellent: 52%
• Fair: 29%
• Poor/Very Poor: 19%

Spring Wheat

In the top six spring wheat-producing states, 89% of the crop had emerged as of June 15. This figure is behind the five-year average of 92%. Emergence is at 100% in all states except Montana and North Dakota.

The condition of the spring wheat crop is as follows:

• Good/Excellent: 57%
• Fair: 34%
• Poor/Very Poor: 9%

Oats

The USDA reports that 95% of the oat crop had emerged in the nine leading oat-producing states by June 15, aligning with the five-year average of 95%. Additionally, 49% of the oat crop has headed, slightly above the five-year average of 47%.

The condition of the oat crop is as follows:

• Fair: 28%
• Poor/Very Poor: 16%
