Pavilion of Denmark Showcases Innovations at Aquasur 2026
A Strong Danish Presence in Aquaculture
From March 24 to 26, 2026, the Pavilion of Denmark will be a focal point at Aquasur 2026 in Región de Los Lagos, Chile. Comprised of 26 innovative companies, the pavilion will showcase cutting-edge technologies and comprehensive solutions that cover the entire aquaculture value chain.
This initiative is organized by the Danish Export Association and co-financed by The Trade Council. It aims to facilitate connections among suppliers, producers, and partners seeking to expand their footprint in the Chilean and broader South American aquaculture markets.
Untapped Opportunities in South America
South America continues to present significant growth opportunities for Danish and international aquaculture suppliers. Aquasur, as one of the region’s premier industry exhibitions, serves as a critical platform for enhancing export activities and forging new partnerships.
“For many years, we have introduced Danish exhibitors to Chile, and the experience has always been enriching. Aquasur is where key stakeholders converge, allowing Danish companies to highlight their innovations across the value chain,” said Martin Winkel Lilleøere, Head of Fish Tech at the Danish Export Association.
Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Aquaculture
Among the exhibitors, Simatek Bulk Systems stands out for its extensive experience in South America, having operated in the market for over 30 years. The company specializes in mechanical conveying systems that prioritize the gentle handling of fragile products, utilizing a patented feeding system designed to minimize damage during transport.
“Fish farmers are increasingly concerned about the quality of feed handling. Damaged feed not only results in waste but can also cause water pollution. The demand for gentler conveying solutions is rising,” explained Jakob Schou Jensen, Key Account Manager at Simatek Bulk Systems.
In a bid to strengthen its regional presence, Simatek bulk Systems acquired Graintec in 2023, a Danish firm with an established office in Chile, further solidifying its foothold in the South American marketplace.
Turning Trade Fair Encounters into Success
Another innovative exhibitor at Aquasur will be FoulingCure, a company that has developed groundbreaking technology for cleaning plate heat exchangers while they remain operational. This addresses long-standing challenges related to dirty heat exchangers in aquaculture, which can lead to energy loss or harmful chemical cleaning processes.
“Trade fairs have proven to be instrumental in reaching end customers. They provide a platform to showcase our products and engage multiple stakeholders simultaneously,” noted Steen Petersen, a partner at FoulingCure. The company previously attended Aquasur 2024, where a potential customer subsequently placed an order, leading to successful system installation at a Chilean fish farm.
