Market Overview

This week saw a significant fall in numbers, down by 2100, leading to a total of 6390 cattle in the yard.
A considerable portion of this yarding consisted of cows and young cattle suitable for restockers, along
with healthy numbers of yearlings suitable for processors and feeders. However, not all regular buyers participated
in the sales due to market fluctuations.
Cattle Prices Analysis
Young cattle for trade experienced a lift of 10c, with prime vealers and yearlings being sold between 408c to 510c/kg.
Feeder steers saw a slight decrease, finishing 3c to 10c/kg cheaper, while feeder heifers increased by up to 9c/kg.
Specifically, feeder steers sold for prices ranging from 428c to 530c, while feeder heifers fetched between 400c to 485c/kg.
Young cattle aimed at restockers were highly sought after, with young steers reaching 556c and young restocker heifers
selling for up to 444c/kg.
Grown Cattle and Cows
Grown steers and heifers saw a decrease of 8c to 10c. Prime grown steers sold for prices from 458c to 474c, while prime
grown heifers fetched between 430c to 469c/kg. Secondary cows experienced a drop of 20c to 30c, with better-finished
heavier weights being sold at 16c/kg cheaper.
Two and three scores for processors sold between 140c to 358c, and prime heavy weight cows averaged around 369c/kg,
with prices ranging from 344c to 391c. Cows targeted at restockers sold from 140c to 373c/kg, and heavy bulls traded
at a price of 421c/kg.
Conclusion
Overall, the Dubbo saleyards witnessed a mixed market with notable variances in cattle prices this week.
Active engagement from restockers is maintaining some level of competition, particularly for young cattle.
