Young Cattle Prices
Young cattle intended for processing experienced a price drop of up to 15 cents, with prime vealers and yearlings trading between 298c to 396c/kg. The premium feeder steers remained relatively stable; however, the majority saw a decrease of 33c to 40c/kg. Prices for feeder steers ranged from 300c to 420c, while feeder heifers traded between 258c to 370c/kg. Young cattle directed towards backgrounders and restockers were down by as much as 40c, with young steers reaching a maximum of 432c and restocker heifers going for up to 325c/kg.
Grown Cattle and Cows
Prices for grown steers and heifers plummeted, reflecting a drop of 35c to 40c/kg. Prime grown steers were sold within the range of 310c to 391c, and prime grown heifers fetched prices from 300c to 375c/kg. Cows also saw a decline, priced 28c to 40c lower, with 2 and 3 scores for processors selling for 120c to 270c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows averaged 275c/kg, with sales ranging from 240c to 285c. Prices for cows directed to restockers dropped by 40c to 60c, with sales between 185c to 262c/kg. Heavy bulls sold for up to 330c/kg.
