Founded in 2019 by Alain Thibault and Dr. Ené Leppik as a spin-off from the French research institute INRAE, Agriodor has introduced a novel type of crop protection solution. Rather than relying on toxic compounds, the company reproduces scents naturally emitted by plants, using them as semiochemicals to influence insect behavior. This innovative method allows for the attraction, repulsion, or confusion of pests, enabling population control without resorting to lethal means.

By mimicking signals that insects naturally respond to, Agriodor aims to bring products to market with costs up to ten times lower than traditional insecticides and at a much faster pace.
This innovative method addresses longstanding industry challenges, such as resistance management and biodiversity impacts, since the products cause no toxic residues and specifically target pest behaviors without harming beneficial insects.

Agriodor underscores the urgency for ecological solutions, particularly as studies show alarming declines in insect populations—biomass reductions of 70-75% in some areas—with up to 40% of species at risk of extinction. The implications for agriculture are dire, affecting soil health and pollination, as insects support over 75% of global food crops.
Agriodor positions its technology as a sustainable approach to pest control, minimizing collateral damage to beneficial insects and ecosystems. “We believe the future of crop protection resides in biology, not chemistry,” remarked Alain Thibault, co-founder and president of Agriodor.
