Guard Launches Dedicated Aquaculture Division

Guard launches dedicated Aquaculture Division. Guard Automation is launching a dedicated Aquaculture Division, headquartered in Bergen, Western Norway. The initiative brings together the company’s expertise in automation, supervisory control, digitalisation and systems integration for the aquaculture industry, building on several years of project deliveries to fish farming customers.

Over the past years, Guard has delivered solutions to companies across the aquaculture sector, including supervisory control, monitoring and systems integration projects. The new division will further strengthen the company’s offering to fish farming companies, hatcheries, land-based facilities and technology providers. Guard has worked with customers including Ovum (Egget®), Grieg Seafood, Cermaq and Lerøy.

Focused growth initiative
Guard is currently expanding its aquaculture team, including the recruitment of a dedicated Sales Manager for Aquaculture.

“Aquaculture is an industry facing increasing demands for operational control, documentation and technology integration. This initiative builds on the experience we have already gained through several years of deliveries to the industry. We want to consolidate that expertise and be a long-term technology partner for aquaculture companies,” says Aleksander Mork-Knudsen, Head of Aquaculture at Guard Automation.

The division is based in Bergen and will serve customers throughout Norway – and around the North Sea basin. Guard also has offices in Denmark and Sweden.

“We are seeing growing demand for solutions that connect automation, data acquisition and operational insight. Through this initiative, we aim to help customers make more efficient and data-driven decisions,” says Aleksander Mork-Knudsen.

Building on established expertise
Guard enters the aquaculture market not as a newcomer, but as an established automation and systems integration company founded in 1982 with more than 100 engineers. The company has been the automation partner for Ovum’s closed containment facility Egget® since 2019 and continues to build on expertise in SCADA and PLC systems, cloud-based operational monitoring (Guard Cloud) and industrial cybersecurity, a discipline that is becoming increasingly important as aquaculture facilities become more digitalized and interconnected.

As an independent systems integrator, Guard selects technology platforms based on customer requirements rather than delivering a proprietary ecosystem. With offices in Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim, the company already provides local support close to several key aquaculture regions along the Norwegian coastline.
