Innovasea Welcomes Andreas Mintsios as New Managing Director for the Mediterranean
Innovasea, a global pioneer in advanced aquatic solutions for aquaculture and fish tracking, has announced the appointment of Andreas Mintsios as the new Managing Director for the Mediterranean region. This strategic move is expected to enhance Innovasea’s presence in a vital part of the aquaculture industry.
Role and Responsibilities
Based out of Innovasea’s dedicated office in Greece, Mintsios will spearhead the strategic development and execution of the company’s aquaculture operations throughout the Mediterranean. His role will be crucial in addressing the unique challenges of the region while delivering innovative solutions tailored to local needs.
Leadership Experience
Marc Turano, VP of Innovasea, expressed confidence in Mintsios, stating, “His extensive background and rich leadership experience make him the ideal candidate for this position. Mintsios’s skills in problem-solving and relationship-building are invaluable as we continue to support our efforts and introduce groundbreaking solutions in this strategically significant area.”
Background in Aquaculture
Before joining Innovasea, Mintsios held the position of Managing Director at Thraki SA. He has almost twenty years of experience in the aquaculture sector, having worked at HELPA S.A. where he managed their partial RAS (PRAS) eel farming operations and subsequently led the company’s transition to sturgeon farming. Notably, he played a key role in establishing Greece’s first successful modern farmed caviar operation.
Vision for the Future
Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Mintsios stated, “I’m excited to return to aquaculture and proud to be part of a wonderful team dedicated to advancing and improving this industry. Aquaculture provides a unique opportunity to tackle complex challenges and develop creative solutions.”
Commitment to Innovation
In his capacity as Managing Director, Mintsios aims to collaborate closely with Mediterranean farms to gain insight into their challenges and explore how Innovasea can facilitate innovative, custom solutions. He will succeed Diogo Thomaz, who is transitioning to focus on other significant initiatives within the company.
“Our mission is to equip farmers with the tools, solutions, and data to enhance their operational expertise,” Mintsios remarked. “By fusing cutting-edge technology with industry insights, we can empower farm operators to optimize their efficiencies. Additionally, I look forward to continuing Innovasea’s legacy in research and development through partnerships with universities and research institutions in the region that share our vision for sustainable aquaculture.”
Academic Qualifications
Mintsios holds a degree in civil engineering from Democritus University of Thrace and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde, further complementing his extensive practical experience in the field.
