The early days of Corvus were fraught with uncertainties, a situation exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Wu faced difficult decisions to ensure the company’s survival, notably choosing to furlough himself during financially challenging times.

Reflecting on that period, he described it as “cockroach mode,” a state where resilience becomes paramount. “We will do whatever it takes,” he stated, valuing the grit essential for startup survival.

Through those trials, Wu distilled three core lessons that have guided him: a steadfast commitment to core values, an unwavering refusal to give up, and a rigorous standard of excellence. “Some may not appreciate it,” he says, emphasizing the need for high expectations during recruitment.

He noted, “The strongest candidates are those who think of the company first,” showcasing the importance of collaborative problem-solving over self-promotion.

Despite the evolution of his role, Wu remains dedicated to staying immersed in the operations of Corvus. His desire to engage with every detail—from product updates to hiring—highlights his commitment to the company’s mission.
