• 280 to 330kg: 302c to 500c/kg
• 330 to 400kg: 472c/kg
• 400 to 480kg: 468c/kg to average 440c/kg
• Over 480kg: 438c/kg

Yearling heifers also had a competitive market:

• 200 to 280kg: 372c/kg
• 280 to 330kg: 262c to 380c/kg
• 330 to 400kg: 376c/kg
• 400 to 480kg: 404c to average 310c/kg
• Over 480kg: 400c/kg

The market for grown steers and heavy heifers showed some promising results:

• Grown steers 400 to 500kg: 384c/kg to 452c/kg
• Grown steers 500 to 600kg: 438c/kg
• Heavy heifers over 540kg: topped at 400c/kg

Market Highlights

Although the total number of cattle decreased this week, the attendance from regular buyers remained robust, indicating a steady demand. Cattle were sourced from distant regions, including Alice Springs and various areas throughout Queensland, emphasizing the event’s importance and quality of offerings.

Vendor Success Stories

AF, GR & LA Seawright from ‘Wyoming’, Jackson, achieved a successful sale, with steers reaching 440c/kg and earning a commendable return of $1,382/hd. Specific highlights included:

• Hereford steers: 460c/kg, averaging 365kg, earning $1,681/hd
• Hereford cross steers: 472c/kg, averaging 349kg, earning $1,648/hd

Meanwhile, livestock agent Dave Phillips collaborated with Peter Beale to sell Shorthorn steers at 416c/kg, weighing 368kg, which netted $1,533/hd.
