Undercurrent has expanded its pricing platform with the launch of a new Global Farmed Whitefish Price Tracker, bringing together raw material, export and wholesale pricing into a single, integrated view for the world’s most-traded farmed whitefish species.

The tool marks a further step in UCN’s shift toward a more data-driven platform, offering users a clearer, end-to-end view of pricing dynamics across tilapia, pangasius, catfish and key Mediterranean species.

At its core, the tracker is designed to connect pricing signals across the value chain– from farm-gate production in Asia and Latin America through to export benchmarks and final wholesale markets in both Europe and the United States.

From pond to plate: a four-stage view

The tracker is structured across four stages of the value chain– raw material, export, EU wholesale and US wholesale, allowing users to follow pricing from farm-gate levels in key producing regions through to final market transactions.

Coverage spans core species, including tilapia, pangasius, catfish and Mediterranean seabass and seabream, with data updated weekly or monthly, depending on the market.

By aligning pricing across regions and stages, the tool highlights how shifts in supply, trade flows and demand translate through the market. Farm-gate movements in China, Vietnam and Brazil can be viewed alongside Vietnamese export benchmarks and wholesale pricing in Europe and the United States, offering a more complete picture of global value formation.

Each section is supported by interactive charts, historical comparisons and downloadable data, allowing users to compare products, follow week-to-week changes and analyze longer-term pricing trends.

Global seafood PRA

The global farmed whitefish price tracker is the latest step in UCN’s development into a global price reporting agency (PRA), following the rollout of the global groundfish price tracker, global shrimp price tracker and global salmon price tracker.
