Undercurrent is proposing an expansion of its weekly US wholesale mahi-mahi price reporting to include Oman as an additional country of origin within its existing coverage.

As part of our continued effort to reflect evolving supply dynamics and ensure our assessments align with market realities, we are gathering industry participant feedback on this proposed addition.

The UCN price assessments reflect trade from the importer to the first receiver in the US wholesale market, focusing on imported frozen mahi-mahi. Current coverage includes key producing regions in Asia and Latin America, with all reported product remaining CO-treated. The addition of Oman would further strengthen our Asian origin coverage and provide greater transparency across a growing area of supply.

Pricing basis: The proposed pricing assessments will continue to be based on ex-warehouse pricing, $/lb basis, reflecting spot market values from importers to first receivers in the US market. 

Quotation series:  Prices will continue to reflect less-than-truckload (LTL) volumes, expressed in $/lb. 

Origins: Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Ecuador, Peru and the proposed addition of Oman

This initiative aims to provide valuable and independent price benchmarks for the mahi mahi industry, complementing our established reputation as a credible global seafood news supplier. With nearly 3,000 data sets across key species, this new service will further strengthen our offerings.
