Undercurrent is proposing the launch of weekly US wholesale price reporting for frozen Alaska salmon roe markets, focused on pink and chum green roe (unprocessed and in the sac) products traded into export and domestic wholesale channels.

The proposed assessments are intended to provide independent pricing transparency ahead of the Alaska salmon season, when market participants begin establishing procurement expectations and negotiating seasonal business across the roe complex.

This proposed launch reflects increasing interest in benchmark pricing for Alaska salmon roe amid evolving global supply dynamics, fluctuating Japanese demand trends and broader volatility across salmon commodity markets.

The UCN price assessments would reflect spot market trade and prevailing wholesale replacement values for ocean-run frozen roe blocks originating from Alaska production.

Pricing basis: The proposed pricing assessments would reflect FOB Seattle wholesale market pricing on a $/lb basis for frozen ocean-run green roe blocks traded in commercial wholesale volumes. Assessments are intended to represent prevailing market values between primary sellers, exporters and wholesale buyers.
