Canadian Poultry Research Council Unveils Updated Website to Advance Poultry Research
On October 1, 2024, the Canadian Poultry Research Council (CPRC) launched an enhanced website designed to highlight groundbreaking poultry research conducted in Canada. The new platform aims to share insights on how research is propelling advancements in the Canadian poultry industry while providing essential information about research funding opportunities.
Revamped Online Presence
The newly designed website, accessible at cp-rc.ca, is fully searchable and consolidates all research initiatives backed by CPRC, government agencies, and industry stakeholders. Notably, it includes information on the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership cluster funding (2023-2028).
Empowering the Poultry Sector
Caroline Wilson, Executive Director of CPRC, expressed, “For nearly 25 years, CPRC has played a crucial role in coordinating poultry research funding across Canada. This ensures that our industry can continuously adapt to both emerging opportunities and ongoing challenges.” She emphasized that the updated website serves as a vital resource for researchers, producers, and industry professionals, featuring expanded communication materials that share valuable research insights.
Comprehensive Research Areas
The website categorizes information based on five key research priorities: antimicrobial stewardship, poultry health, poultry welfare, food safety, and sustainability. It provides relatable content such as research stories, fact sheets, and scholarship details. Enhanced navigation enables users to easily search for research based on specific topics, researchers, or poultry sector segments, including broilers, layers, breeders, turkeys, hatcheries, and processors.
Long-standing Commitment to Research
Since its inception, CPRC has supported 175 poultry research projects, allocating funds to over 80 researchers from Canadian universities and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research centers. This investment drives innovation, resilience, and competitiveness within Canada’s poultry sector.
Collaboration and Strategic Partnerships
Wilson added, “Our updated site showcases the extensive range of applicable research that supports the vibrant and healthy Canadian poultry sector. By fostering partnerships with industry stakeholders, we facilitate research, education, and technology transfer.”
Since 2001, the CPRC has built strategic research partnerships aimed at enhancing the Canadian poultry industry. With the support of founding members such as Canadian Hatching Egg Producers, Chicken Farmers of Canada, Egg Farmers of Canada, Turkey Farmers of Canada, and Canadian Poultry & Egg Processors, CPRC continues to provide valuable insights and innovations that directly benefit the industry.
