Milestone Achieved at Indre Harøy: Salmon Evolution’s Phase 2 Progress

Salmon Evolution has kicked off 2026 on a high note by reaching a significant milestone at its Indre Harøy facility. The first tank of Phase 2 has been successfully filled with seawater, marking an essential stage in the commissioning process. This achievement signifies that vital systems are functioning as expected, underscoring that the project is advancing as planned.

Scaling Up: Phase 2 on Track for 18,000 Tonnes of Production

Just a year and a half after initiating construction, Phase 2 of the project is poised to elevate the production capacity to an impressive 18,000 tonnes HOG of land-based salmon upon full completion.

“Filling the first tank is a symbolic moment for all of us,” stated Kamilla Mordal Holo, Chief Project & Technology Officer. “It showcases that the systems we have designed are operating as intended and, most importantly, brings us closer to welcoming new smolt into their future home.”

Leveraging Phase 1 Learnings for Phase 2 Enhancement

This key milestone is also a testament to the solid groundwork laid during Phase 1. The operational experiences and insights gained from Phase 1 have been pivotal in enhancing the efficiency and robustness of Phase 2. While the tank is now filled, additional testing and final completion tasks are necessary before the facility can welcome the first smolt.

“Our team, in collaboration with our contractors, has demonstrated unwavering commitment and focus to reach this point,” Holo emphasized. “Witnessing water flow through the system as planned instills confidence as we transition into the next phase of commissioning.”

Preparing for the Next Steps: Testing and Smolt Introduction

With the initial tank filled and the commissioning process well underway, attention now shifts toward the next pivotal milestone: the introduction of smolt into the new facility. This will occur once thorough testing and final checks are completed.

This milestone represents yet another stride in Salmon Evolution’s mission to unlock the ocean’s potential in a responsible, sustainable manner, all while being grounded on land.
