Cobb Europe Achieves Groundbreaking Compartmentalisation Status

Cobb Europe has reached a pivotal milestone by becoming the first poultry organization in England to secure Great Britain compartmentalisation for its entire production chain. This achievement is crucial for ensuring the ongoing international export of broiler breeding stock, even during severe disease outbreaks.

Approval from Regulatory Authorities

According to a recent press release, the compartmentalisation status has been sanctioned by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the UK Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA). This recognition affirms that Cobb’s Great Grandparent/Grandparent farms and Grandparent/Parent hatchery in Norfolk adhere to the highest standards for biosecurity and disease surveillance.

A Global Commitment to Biosecurity

With a focus on safe and reliable practices, Cobb Europe is capable of supplying breeding stock across the Middle East, Africa, and other global markets. “With avian influenza outbreaks now occurring outside the traditional migratory season, the compartment scheme provides essential assurance to trading partners that approved Cobb locations operate under the highest biosecurity standards and remain disease-free—even during localized outbreaks,” stated Lyndsey Cassidy, senior specialist in quality assurance at Cobb Europe.

The Revised GB Compartment Scheme

The GB compartment scheme, revised in 2024, introduces rigorous site-specific Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans, enhanced serological testing, and comprehensive contingency planning. Cobb’s successful application for this status reflects the tireless efforts of its Quality Assurance, farm, hatchery, and export teams.

Reinforcing Global Trade Security

This significant achievement bolsters Cobb Europe’s reputation as a trusted global supplier and enhances the security of its international trade. To maintain compliance with GB Compartment standards, regular inspections will be conducted on a two-year cycle.
