Dalby Cattle Market Report
Market Overview
Yarding: 7544 Change: +910
The Dalby saleyards witnessed a notable increase of 910 head, totaling 7544 cattle. Cow numbers rose to 1734, while the supply of bulls remained stable at just under 400 head. Buyer participation was robust, featuring regular local and southern operators, alongside a new feeder purchaser from South Australia.
Price Trends
The robust demand for well-bred light weight yearling steers returning to pasture was evident, despite price fluctuations for lighter categories. Heavy weight yearling steers exhibited strong demand, with those exceeding 480kg witnessing price increases. Buyers showed selectivity for light and medium weight yearling heifers aimed at restocking and feeding, though heavy weight yearling heifers to feed saw improved prices.
Heavy grown steers and bullocks met firm demand, while the increased cow supply led to a decline in prices by 4c to 10c/kg, primarily affecting lines of less desirable condition.
