The supply of cattle in Dalby saw a slight decrease, totaling 6634 head this week, including 812 cows and nearly 400 bulls. The regular panel of export buyers, including several southern operators, remained active, though a number of feeder and restocker buyers were selective with their purchases.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock struggled to maintain prices from the previous sale, with medium and heavy weight yearlings having varied outcomes based on quality. Light weight heifers returned to the paddock with declines of 18c to 20c/kg, while heavier weights saw stability or increases up to 10c/kg.

Price Overview

Heavy grown steers and bullocks remained firm, with the top price for cows unchanged; however, average cow prices fluctuated based on quality:

• Light weight yearling steers: Up to 590c with most sales between 495c to 496c/kg.
• Yearling steers for domestic markets: Averaged 485c to 495c, selling up to 524c/kg.
• Heavy weight yearling steers: Sold to 524c with averages ranging from 463c to 487c/kg.
• Medium & Heavy weight heifers: Averaged between 416c to 438c, with heavy weights averaging 428c/kg.
