Yard Numbers and Quality
Yarding: 7330 Change: -150
The latest yarding at Dubbo Saleyards saw a slight decrease in numbers, totaling 7330. However, the quality remained high, with a solid representation of prime cattle across various sections. There were also satisfactory numbers of cattle suitable for backgrounders and feeders, alongside a range of plainer quality cattle, particularly from the far west areas.
Cattle Price Trends
Young cattle intended for trade witnessed a price increase of 10c, with prime vealers and yearlings now fetching between 438c and 504c/kg. In contrast, feeder steers and lightweight feeder heifers were down by 8c to 15c, while heavier feeder heifers increased by 9c/kg. Specific price ranges for feeder steers and heifers were noted:
- Feeder Steers: 440c to 542c/kg
- Feeder Heifers: 394c to 486c/kg
Notably, young cattle sold to restockers were down by up to 20c, with young steers selling for up to 606c/kg and young heifers reaching 472c/kg.
Grown Cattle Prices
Grown steers and heifers saw a price rise of 10c, with prime grown steers selling for 452c to 494c/kg, while prime grown heifers sold from 370c to 479c/kg. Unfortunately, cows experienced a slight decrease, ranging from 4c to 8c lower, with 2 and 3 scores selling between 250c and 370c/kg. The average price for prime heavyweight cows was reported at 386c/kg, with cows sold to restockers ranging from 151c to 384c/kg. Heavy bulls also faced a decline, selling for up to 404c/kg.
