Market Overview

Numbers were down by 800 for a total yarding of 3100. The quality of the cattle was fair, featuring a strong selection of young cattle suitable for processors and a variety of pens desirable for feeders. Additionally, cows were well represented, with notable consignments of secondary cattle arriving from the far west.
Price Trends
Young cattle drew keen interest from buyers, resulting in prices increasing by up to 25c/kg. Prime vealers reached a high of 418c/kg, while prime yearlings fetched between 300c and 428c/kg. Feeder steers saw a rise of 3c to 9c, while feeder heifers experienced increases up to 30c/kg. Specifically, feeder steers traded between 318c and 440c, and feeder heifers sold from 300c to 380c/kg.
Restocker Demand
Young cattle sold to restockers rose by as much as 40c/kg, with young steers reaching 440c and young heifers selling at 396c/kg.
Adult Cattle Prices
Grown steers and heifers saw price hikes of up to 9c. Prime grown steers sold within the range of 320c to 394c, while prime grown heifers were priced between 300c to 382c/kg.
Cows showed a volatile market, starting off cheaper but gaining momentum throughout the sale, finishing 7c to 10c/kg lower. The 2 and 3 score cows sold for between 125c and 253c, with prime heavyweight cows averaging at 268c/kg, selling from 245c to 315c. Cows targeted at restockers saw an increase of up to 12c, trading from 138c to 244c/kg. Heavy bulls sold for up to 318c/kg.
