Focus on Protein Highlights Opportunities for Wild-Caught Alaska Pollock

The recently released 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans encourage individuals to prioritize protein at every meal, making seafood a highlighted food group among recommended protein sources. This updated guidance reinforces the role of seafood as a high-quality and nutritious protein option that Americans should incorporate at every stage of life.

“The new Guidelines emphasize the importance of protein consumption and specifically recognize that seafood is an excellent way to achieve protein intake goals,” stated Craig Morris, Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock (GAPP). “As we enter Alaska Pollock ‘A’ Season, we celebrate these new Dietary Guidelines crafted for our dedicated captains and crew who tirelessly work to ensure that the most nutritious Alaska Pollock reaches dinner tables across the nation.”

GAPP applauds the consumer-friendly format of the new Guidelines, which will provide concise information to help Americans perceive the numerous benefits of a seafood-rich diet. The recommendations also suggest introducing seafood to infants at six months, emphasizing continued consumption throughout life, particularly during vital growth phases such as adolescence, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
