The Poultry Science Association (PSA) is thrilled to announce that Jenna Boewe from Purdue University has been selected as the 2025 recipient of the Zinpro Corporation’s Undergraduate Poultry Science Scholarship Award.
A Commitment to Diversity
Designed for rising juniors or seniors, the scholarship honors those who not only excel academically but also demonstrate a strong commitment to service and a genuine passion for the advancement of poultry science. This is crucial in addressing the challenges of feeding an ever-growing global population.
“At Zinpro, we are dedicated to nurturing the future leaders of poultry science, particularly from underrepresented communities,” stated LaToya J. Burrell, Legal Counsel at Zinpro. “Jenna’s exceptional passion, hard work, and leadership qualities make her a remarkable candidate. We are excited to support her in making a lasting impact within the industry.”
About Jenna Boewe
Jenna Boewe is currently a junior at Purdue University, pursuing a major in Animal Sciences with a concentration in Animal Behavior and Well-Being, alongside a minor in Wildlife. She serves as an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Candace Croney’s lab, where her work significantly contributes to research in poultry welfare and behavior.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Jenna holds leadership roles as the president of the Purdue Poultry Club and as secretary of the Moravian Mid-States Regional Youth Council. She is also recognized as a rank leader in the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band.
A Passion for Service
Boewe’s commitment to the poultry industry is further evidenced by her experience as a hatchery intern at Rose Acre Farms during the summer of 2024 and her intensive coursework at the Midwest Poultry Consortium Center of Excellence.
Her dedication to service shines through her previous roles as a wildlife rehabilitator and a ten-year member of 4-H, along with a string of accolades including the Stars and Stripes Award and the Daughters of the American Revolution Award.
Looking Toward the Future
“Diversity is not merely a moral necessity; it’s a practical requirement,” said Jenna. “The agricultural sector thrives on creativity, innovative problem-solving skills, and unique perspectives that only a diverse group can offer. I take pride in playing a role in cultivating a field that values inclusivity and celebrates the contributions of all individuals.”
As she continues her studies at Purdue, Boewe aspires to pursue a master’s degree in animal sciences with a specialization in poultry behavior and welfare. Although she is still exploring career paths, her goal includes working in extension services or collaborating with farm producers to conduct welfare audits and address challenges in the industry.
