The National Mango Board has named H-E-B, Rouses, Nugget Market and Superior Grocers its 2026 Mango Retailers of the Year, expanding the annual recognition to four honorees for the first time.
The retailers are recognized for growing the fresh mango category through strong sales performance, creative merchandising, innovative marketing initiatives and consumer education efforts.
Each represents a distinct segment of the grocery industry: H-E-B as large grocer; Rouses as medium grocer; Nugget Market as small grocer; and Superior Grocers as specialty grocer. Each will receive a commemorative plaque.
San Antonio, Texas-based H-E-B operates approximately 455 stores in Texas and Mexico.
Thibodaux, Louisiana-based Rouses Markets approximately 76 stores in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Davis, California-based Nugget Market operates 18 stores in Northern California.
Santa Fe, Springs, California-based Superior Grocers operates nearly 75 stores in California and Nevada.
“Every year we have the challenging task of selecting a retailer of the year, so for the first time, we decided to honor four partners across distinct segments of the grocery industry,” said Ramón Ojeda, executive director of the National Mango Board, based in Orlando, Florida.
“Retailers play an essential role in introducing consumers to the versatility and flavor of fresh mangos, and this year’s honorees demonstrate the impact of a strong commitment to the category,” Ojeda said.
The National Mango Board is an agriculture promotion group supported by assessments on domestic and imported fresh mangos, working to drive awareness and consumption of mangos in the U.S. marketplace.
