Poultry Science Association Announces 2025 Award Recipients
The Poultry Science Association (PSA) is thrilled to reveal the distinguished recipients of its 2025 professional and student awards. These awardees have showcased remarkable commitment, innovation, and leadership within the poultry science community, showcasing excellence that drives our field forward.
Recognition of these outstanding individuals will occur during the PSA Annual Meeting this July at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The celebratory awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday evening at the Raleigh Marriott City Center.

2025 PSA Fellows
The designation of Fellow is the highest honor awarded by the Poultry Science Association, acknowledging professional excellence and contributions to the field of poultry science as well as dedicated service to the Association.
**Dr. Koelkebeck** has been instrumental in assisting poultry producers globally in delivering high-quality eggs and meat to consumers. His pioneering research in poultry production, environmental management, waste management, nutrition, and biosecurity significantly impacts both small flock and commercial poultry producers. Over the years, Dr. Koelkebeck has received notable accolades, including the American Egg Board Research Award and the Phibro Extension Award, and has been a dedicated member of PSA.
**Dr. Mitchell**, who serves as the Vice President of Nutrition and Research at Perdue Foods, has committed his career to advancing the poultry industry through innovative nutrition and welfare strategies. A proud alumnus of the University of Georgia, where he obtained all his degrees in Poultry Science, he has held various leadership roles at Perdue since 1998, successfully overseeing nutrition programs that advocate for antibiotic-free and all-vegetable feeding practices. Dr. Mitchell’s extensive contributions to science and industry leadership have made him a long-serving PSA member, having been actively involved in the PSA Board and Executive Committee.

Arm & Hammer Animal and Food Production Food Safety Award: Dr. Steven C. Ricke, University of Wisconsin
Dr. Ricke focuses on Salmonella and Campylobacter prevention, boasting over 500 peer-reviewed publications. -
Evonik Award for Achievement in Poultry Science: Dr. Elijah Kiarie, University of Guelph
His research integrates nutritional strategies to enhance productivity while reducing antibiotic use. -
Maple Leaf Farms Duck Research Award: Dr. Hector E. Leyva-Jimenez, United Animal Health Inc.
Dr. Leyva-Jimenez specializes in feed formulation and nutrient utilization in poultry research. - National Chicken Council Broiler Research Award: Dr. Rami A. Dalloul, University of Georgia

Jo Ann is focused on optimizing nutritional strategies for pullet rearing while actively participating in student leadership roles.
