Roma Agents managed to pen a total of 8,457 head at the latest cattle sale. With regular processors, lot feeders, and backgrounders all present, the quality of the yarding was notably good. Overall, the market showed firm to dearer trends across most categories.
Yearling Steer Performance
Yearling steers between 200 to 280 kg sold for prices ranging from 340c to 526c/kg. Those in the 280 to 330 kg bracket improved by nearly 25c/kg averaging at 524c/kg. For steers weighing 330 to 400 kg, prices varied from 340c to 496c/kg, with yearlings over 480 kg achieving up to 468c/kg.
Heifers Market Analysis
Light heifers struggled to maintain their previous sale levels. Yearling heifers weighing 200 to 280 kg peaked at 432c/kg. Meanwhile, yearling heifers in the 280 to 330 kg category achieved prices ranging from 290c to 444c/kg, averaging around 486c/kg.
Grown Steers and Heifers
The grown steers in the 400 to 500 kg range sold for prices between 420c to 480c/kg, while those in the 500 to 600 kg range made between 390c to 478c/kg. Several exceptionally fattened bullocks topped at 439c/kg to processors. Grown heifers over 540 kg showed improvement, averaging 460c/kg.
Cows and Bulls Trending
Two-score cows ranging from 400 to 520 kg sold from 200c to 340c/kg, while three-score cows over 520 kg topped at 410c/kg. Bulls in the 450 to 600 kg range traded for 384c/kg, and those over 600 kg hit 438c/kg.

The sale featured numerous consignments from various regions across Queensland, including the Maranoa supply district, with multiple cattle runs from Western and Northern Queensland, notably from Charleville and Winton.

Bernie and Cindy Bruce from ‘Wilga Park’, Taroom, sold 55 Charolais cross and Wagyu cross steers during the sale. Notably, a pen of their Charolais cross steers fetched an impressive 518c/kg, weighing in at 310kg for a total return of $1,605/head, consigned through Top X Roma.

Arbroath Grazing Company also made headlines by selling heavy Simmental cross steers, averaging 430c/kg weighing 77kg, with the heaviest pen achieving $3,525/head.
