Trident Aqua Services Celebrates the Launch of the ‘Inter Alba’
Trident Aqua Services has officially marked the naming ceremony of its new battery-hybrid wellboat, ‘Inter Alba’, which is now operational for Mowi Scotland.
A Milestone Event in Ullapool
The celebration took place in Ullapool, Scotland on Saturday, showcasing the ‘Inter Alba’, the first vessel of two new builds from Sefine Shipyard. This vessel is recognized as one of the largest and most technologically advanced wellboats in the aquaculture industry.
Significance of ‘Inter Alba’
The introduction of ‘Inter Alba’ signifies a crucial development in Trident Aqua Services’ newbuild program and reinforces the company’s foothold in the Scottish aquaculture market. Designed by Salt Ship Design, this innovative vessel boasts a cargo capacity of 6,500 m³, prioritizing gentle fish handling, high biosecurity, and enhanced technology for optimal fish welfare.
Advanced Fish Handling Capabilities
The fish handling system is supplied by MMC First Process, and the vessel features a state-of-the-art freshwater production plant capable of producing up to 15,000 m³ of freshwater daily through seawater reverse osmosis.

The naming ceremony attracted a diverse group, including crew members, customers, suppliers, media, and local community representatives. Kerry Hadfield, the spouse of Ben Hadfield, COO of Mowi Scotland, served as the vessel’s godmother. The event concluded with a dinner in Inverness, further strengthening bonds among attendees.
