<p>The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is calling for nominations to fill six key positions on the American Egg Board (Board). <p>There are three member and three alternate vacancies available. The term for the new appointees will run from March 2026 to March 2028. Organizations certified in Area I have until Friday, September 12, 2025, to submit their nominations.</p>
<p>Eligible egg producers must own more than 75,000 laying hens to be considered for nomination by a certified organization. Producers with 75,000 or fewer laying hens may also be nominated if they are not exempt from assessments and are actively contributing to the Board's financial framework. The USDA will review the nominations and select qualified appointees from the submissions received.</p>
<h2>The Role of the American Egg Board</h2>
<p>The American Egg Board, consisting of 18 members and an equal number of alternates, administers egg-related research and promotional programs sanctioned under the Egg Research and Consumer Information Act of 1974. Since its inception in 1966, this board has allowed the agricultural community to collaborate, fostering market expansion, enhancing existing market strategies, and exploring vital research opportunities.</p>
<p>The AMS supervises 22 such boards funded by industry assessments, ensuring adherence to financial accountability and program integrity.</p>
