The Legacy of Mick Sullivan in the Beef Industry
Two production groups in the beef industry, led by Mick Sullivan, were aimed at collating research and providing results to further develop researchers and professionals working in the beef industry across Australia.
Alan, a colleague of Mick, highlighted Mick’s great strengths, including his sense of humour and ability to bring teams together to achieve desirable outcomes. He described Mick as a great bloke, always humble and down to earth.
Pat Thurbon, who worked with Mick at the Department of Primary Industries, praised Mick’s reputation in genetic improvement of livestock in Australia and overseas. He also commended Mick for his gentlemanly demeanor in all situations.
After spending 12 years at The Village Yeronga Retirement Community in Brisbane, Mick continued to showcase his natural leadership skills as the chair of the Village Residents’ Committee. Sadly, Mick passed away in Brisbane on January 20, 2025, at the age of 77.
A funeral service to honor Mick’s life will be held at Mt Thompson Memorial Gardens and Crematorium East Chapel, 329 Nursery Road Holland Park, Qld, this Friday (January 31) at 12:30 pm.
