Veterinary Pharmaceutical Solutions Expands into Poultry Market
Veterinary Pharmaceutical Solutions (VPS), a prominent name in the livestock pharmaceutical compounding sector, is thrilled to announce its strategic foray into the poultry industry, specifically focusing on chickens and turkeys. This pivotal expansion has been marked by two significant developments: the appointment of a new Commercial Director of Poultry and the participation in the American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) annual conference with groundbreaking research presentations.
New Leadership to Drive Poultry Initiatives
VPS has recently appointed Darrell Stoner as the Commercial Director for Poultry. Stoner brings an impressive wealth of experience to his new role, boasting over 20 years in the poultry division of Elanco. He holds prominent positions, including Chair of the Health & Welfare Committee for the International Poultry Welfare Alliance (IPWA) and membership on the boards of both The Poultry Federation and the National Turkey Federation. In his capacity as Commercial Director, Stoner is set to enhance collaboration with poultry integrators and veterinarians, aiming to devise innovative solutions tailored for the evolving needs of the poultry industry.
Groundbreaking Research Presented at AAAP
Adding to VPS’s momentum, Dr. Brian Payne, the Commercial R&D and Technical Service Director at VPS, was honored to present at the American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) conference held in Portland from July 29 to July 31. His presentation focused on VPS’s recent study concerning Meloxicam residue in finishing-age turkeys, a collaboration with Iowa State University. This essential research supports informed withdrawal time recommendations for Meloxicam and ibuprofen—the only legally available water-soluble non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) approved for poultry and livestock use.
Dr. Payne is a seasoned technical veterinarian with two decades of dedication to the veterinary community, contributing significantly through research and technical support. His selection to present at the AAAP conference emphasizes VPS’s unwavering commitment to advancing animal health through science and innovative practices.
Commitment to Flock Health and Innovation
“VPS has established a strong reputation among swine veterinarians and producers thanks to our high-quality compounded medications,” remarked Stacy Peters, Chief Commercial Officer of VPS. “We are excited to strengthen our relationships with poultry veterinarians and integrators by continuing to deliver customized solutions that protect and enhance flock health.”
With these recent developments, VPS is poised to make a meaningful impact in the poultry sector while reinforcing its dedication to innovation and animal health.
