US Poultry & Egg Association Honors Industry Leaders with Lamplighter Award
The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) celebrated exemplary contributions to the poultry and egg industry by presenting the prestigious Lamplighter Award to six distinguished individuals during the International Poultry Expo at the 2026 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE). This award recognizes those who have demonstrated sustained and outstanding service within the industry.
2026 Lamplighter Award Honorees
Joel Brandenberger
Joel Brandenberger, who recently retired as president and CEO of the National Turkey Federation (NTF), is a notable recipient. With over 33 years of service, Brandenberger adeptly navigated numerous challenges, including outbreaks of avian influenza and the COVID-19 pandemic. He spearheaded initiatives such as the Turkey Smoke campaign and strengthened export partnerships, all while advocating for regulatory changes favorable to school meal programs. His past experience includes roles in the U.S. House of Representatives and Texas Senate, adding political acumen to his leadership style.
Bill Kinross
With a 40-year career in publishing, Bill Kinross has been instrumental in shaping food and protein industry narratives. As the publisher of Meatingplace for the past 20 years, he directs editorial, digital content, and overall operational responsibilities. Kinross holds degrees from Clemson University and DePaul University, showcasing his dual expertise in management and marketing.
Kim Rice
Renowned for her expertise in food safety and quality, Kim Rice is the vice president of Food Safety & Quality at Rose Acre Farms. Her career spans over three decades, with pivotal roles in regulatory compliance and food safety across various organizations, including US Foods and Conagra/Pilgrim’s Pride. Rice’s educational background in food science and certifications underscore her commitment to industry standards.
Dr. Angie Siemens
Dr. Angie Siemens stands as a national authority in food safety within the meat and poultry sectors. Leading her consulting firm, she has leveraged her extensive experience, including 18 years at Cargill, to address emerging food safety risks. Dr. Siemens holds a Ph.D. in Food Science & Nutrition and has received several accolades for her efforts to enhance industry practices and federal regulations.
Gwen Venable
Gwen Venable, executive vice president of Expo & Communication Services for USPOULTRY, is recognized for her leadership in organizing the International Poultry Expo. Beyond logistics, she has contributed significantly to marketing and public relations in the poultry industry. Venable’s qualifications include certifications in exhibition management and a strong educational foundation with dual MBA degrees from the University of Georgia.
Dr. Jeanna Wilson
Dr. Jeanna Wilson is celebrated for her extensive research and innovative practices in broiler breeder management at the University of Georgia. Since joining in 1988, her research has led to significant savings for breeders, and she has been a guiding force in agricultural education through various conferences and programs. Her numerous publications and awards reflect her impact on the industry.
Jonathan Cade, president of Hy-Line International Inc. and outgoing USPOULTRY chair, expressed, “The dedication and service of this year’s Lamplighter Award recipients has been invaluable in driving the poultry industry forward.
