Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) Named NavCom Supplier for Innovative Wellboat Project
NES has been selected by Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted (FMV) to provide its state-of-the-art Raven INS (Integrated Navigation System) and Raven JPOS (Dynamic Positioning System) for a live fish carrier currently in construction at a Norwegian shipyard.
Overview of Raven INS
The Raven INS integrates essential functionalities—such as radar, electronic chart display and information systems, autopilot/trackpilot capabilities, alarms, and sensor data—into a unified interface on the bridge. This design offers navigators streamlined control and enhanced situational awareness, regardless of the bridge’s configuration.
Turnkey Solution for Advanced Navigation
“This project features a complete turnkey bridge solution, including a fully integrated navigation system, communication equipment, sensors, and operator consoles with a monitor matrix,” explained Siv Remøy-Vangen, Managing Director of NES. “This award underlines the competitive edge and sophisticated capabilities of the Raven INS, which is being delivered as part of an all-encompassing bridge solution.”
Project Timeline
NES is set to begin engineering work immediately, with significant equipment deliveries scheduled for the first half of 2027. FMV, a reputable Norwegian shipbuilder specializing in aquaculture segments, is performing major engineering tasks in-house for the FMV63 project. This live fish carrier is being constructed for North Salmon Service, a Norwegian wellboat operator.
Previous Collaborations
In October of last year, NES secured a contract to act as system integrator and deliver powerful automation systems for the same vessel.
Future-Ready Navigation Solutions
“We are thrilled to be selected for this innovative live fish carrier project once again,” said Andreas Rønning Stein, Sales Manager at NES. “The Raven INS, featuring a user-friendly design and flexibility, is quickly gaining trust among shipowners for its precise and reliable navigation. It’s also future-ready, equipped to support autonomous functions.”
Parent Company Information
NES operates as a subsidiary of HAV Group ASA, a company listed on Euronext Growth Oslo, reinforcing the robustness and credibility of the solutions offered.
Conclusion
As the maritime and aquaculture industries continue to evolve, NES stands at the forefront, committed to providing innovative and flexibly designed solutions that cater to the dynamic needs of its clients.
