USDA Teams Up with Palantir for Agricultural Tech Advancement
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced a significant $300 million blanket purchase agreement with Palantir Technologies, an AI-driven company, aimed at modernizing the agency’s digital infrastructure. This initiative aligns with the objectives outlined in the National Farm Security Action Plan.
Enhancing Agricultural Security and Efficiency
Palantir will build on the USDA’s existing capabilities by providing software solutions designed to secure American farmland, boost supply chain resilience, and protect agricultural programs from fraud, abuse, and foreign adversary threats. This partnership aims to enhance the government’s efficacy in supporting farmers across the nation.
One Farmer, One File Initiative
The partnership will complement the USDA’s One Farmer, One File initiative, which seeks to alleviate repetitive administrative burdens faced by farmers. This initiative was unveiled at the 2026 Commodity Classic, emphasizing the USDA’s commitment to streamline operations for farmers.
Previously Successful Collaboration
This is not the first time USDA and Palantir have collaborated; previously, they worked together on the Landmark platform, facilitating rapid financial assistance to farmers. This platform was instrumental in delivering $4.4 billion in one-time bridge payments to farmers within just five days.
Empowering Farmers with Technology
Farmers utilizing the Landmark platform can easily report their acreage online or at local county offices. Additionally, USDA field staff will have enhanced access to Palantir-powered mobile tools, ensuring quicker payment processing and better service delivery for farmers.
Voices from Leadership
“Protecting America’s farmland is protecting America itself, and this work gives USDA the visibility and speed needed to safeguard our food supply. Our farmers sustain this nation, and modern tools help us support them with greater precision,” stated Sam Berry, USDA’s Chief Information Officer.
Ali Monfre, the Federal Engineering Lead at Palantir, emphasized the importance of this partnership, noting, “America depends on its farmers, and USDA is moving fast to give them the technology they need. We are honored to collaborate on this initiative.”
Palantir’s Expanding Role in Agribusiness
Recently, Palantir has been broadening its reach in the agribusiness sector, offering food producers advanced technology to anticipate supply chain disruptions and reliable software for managing critical business data.
