Record-Breaking Avocado Imports Projected for 2025-26 Season

Avocados From Mexico is setting the stage for an impressive season as they anticipate a historic 2.5 billion pounds of Mexican avocado imports to the United States during the 2025-26 season. This projection signifies the highest volume of avocados ever supplied to the U.S. market by Mexico.

Big Game Supply Surge

In a remarkable forecast, the organization estimates that approximately 280 million pounds of Mexican avocados will be available specifically for the Big Game, another milestone highlighting Mexico’s capability to support significant promotional events.

“The Mexican avocado industry continues to raise the bar – not just for itself but for the global sector,” remarked Alvaro Luque, President and CEO of Avocados From Mexico. “This record projection is a testament to the operational strength of this deeply integrated, binational supply chain and the long-term vision of the Mexican avocado industry.”

Confidence in Quality and Supply

Luque emphasized that this optimistic forecast reflects confidence in several key factors including quality, size availability, and the promotional programs designed to support retail partners throughout the year.

Thanks to its unique microclimate, superior soil composition, and years of agricultural expertise, Mexico remains the sole country capable of producing avocados in sufficient quantities to meet U.S. demand year-round. Favorable weather conditions, consistent rainfall, and ongoing investments in agricultural best practices are expected to result in strong yields for the 2025-26 season.

Beyond the Football Season

The momentum for avocado consumption is not limited to football season. Significant opportunities arise during celebratory events like Cinco de Mayo and the summer season. Avocados From Mexico is strategically positioned to deliver the necessary volume and size availability to sustain promotions, maintain stock levels, and meet heightened consumer demand over several weeks.

An Integrated Industry

The Mexican avocado industry consists of more than 200 importers, 91 packers, and around 35,000 growers, most of whom operate small, family-owned orchards that have been passed down through generations. This thriving industry supports over 42,000 jobs in the U.S. and contributed approximately $7.5 billion to the U.S. economic output in 2024.

Avocados From Mexico operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mexican Hass Avocado Importers Association. Collaborative efforts between MHAIA and the Association of Avocado Exporting Producers and Packers of Mexico have consolidated resources to fund and manage Avocados From Mexico, which is headquartered in Irving, Texas.
