Weekly Cattle Market Report: Dalby Yarding 4237 – Change -766
The latest livestock market report from Dalby shows a slight decrease in the number of cattle penned, with a total of 4,237 head recorded, down by 766 from the previous week. Despite the lower numbers, the market remained firm to dearer, with strong buyer attendance from export, feed, trade, and restocker sectors.
Lightweight yearling steers saw strong competition, leading to an increase in top prices due to improved quality. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers for feed also saw a 10c/kg rise in average prices. Light and heavy weight yearling heifers experienced price improvements, with the better-end heifers fetching higher prices.
Well-bred lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock reached a top price of 482c/kg, while yearling steers for domestic feed markets made up to 410c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers returning to the paddock achieved prices up to 388c/kg, with heavy weight yearling heifers for feed averaging 324c/kg and reaching up to 340c/kg.
Bullocks maintained stable prices, while cows showed marginal improvements. Grown heifers averaged 322c/kg, while cows ranged from 258c/kg for medium weight 2 score cows to 310c/kg for heavy weight cows. Heavy weight bulls reached up to 308c/kg.
