Yarding 7,180 Change -4363
With the forecast for useful rains for next week numbers were back considerably on the previous sales record yarding with 7180 penned. Cows and their weaner calves once again made up a large percentage of the yarding. There were odd pens of yearlings to suit the feeders and there were only limited numbers of well finished grown steers and heifers. There was very strong restocker support from southern NSW, Victorian and South Australian buyers with one of the largest gallery of buyers to be seen at a prime market.
Young cattle to the trade were around firm with prime yearlings selling to 446c/kg. Light and medium weight feeder steers and heifers were15c to 30c dearer, the heavy weight steers though were 30c/kg cheaper. The feeder steers sold from 420c to 528c while the feeder heifers sold from 350c to 482c/kg. Young cattle to the restockers regained the previous weeks falls to be considerably dearer. Young steers to the restockers sold from 390c to 500c while the young heifers sold from 300c to 430c/kg.
The few prime grown steers and heifers yarded were firm with the prime grown steers selling from 420 to 440c while the prime grown heifers sold from 410c to 466c/kg. Cows to the processors were 15c to 30c dearer while the cows to the restockers were 55c/kg dearer. 2 and 3 score cows to the processors sold from 220c to 333c while the prime heavy weight cows sold from 313c to 365c to average 342c/kg. Cows to the restockers sold from 215c to 324c/kg. Bulls were 20c dearer selling to 414c/kg.
