The quality remains fair to good, with a strong representation of prime cattle along with adequate numbers for feeders and backgrounders. In light of the robust market conditions, several cows have also been yarded.
Cattle Prices Analysis
Young cattle to the trade have seen an increase of 8 cents per kilogram, with prime vealers and yearlings trading between 400c and 492c/kg.
Feeder steers and heifers experienced price rises of 10 to 15 cents per kilogram, while mid-weight feeder steers (400kg to 480kg) were down by 2 to 4 cents. Specifically, feeder steers sold for about 370c to 530c, and feeder heifers fetched between 358c and 467c/kg.
Restockers’ Market Trends
The trend remains strong for young cattle marketed to restockers, with weaner steers reaching prices of up to 580c/kg, and young heifers at 449c/kg.
Grown Cattle Performance
Grown steers and heifers also saw increases, with prime grown steers selling from 398c to 484c and prime grown heifers transitioning between 413c and 473c/kg.
Cows showed a price rise of up to 20 cents, with grades 2 and 3 selling between 266c and 395c/kg; prime heavy-weight cows averaged around 416c/kg, with pricing ranging from 390c to 446c. Restocker cows sold between 304c and 363c/kg, and heavy bulls saw prices reaching up to 401c/kg.
