Gael Force Group Installs SeaQure Containment System for Hábrún in Iceland

Inverness-based aquaculture technology provider, Gael Force Group, has marked a significant milestone by successfully installing its cutting-edge SeaQure range of equipment for Iceland’s Hábrún fish farming company.

Collaborative Efforts Yield Innovative Solutions

Through a productive partnership with Hábrún and local service provider Sjótækni, Gael Force designed and delivered a complete containment system that includes pens, moorings, and nets. The rigorous technical analysis of all supplied equipment ensured the utmost levels of quality, reliability, and longevity, specifically tailored for the unique challenges posed by the Icelandic marine environment.

Advanced Design and Testing

The development process included sophisticated simulations that tested the systems against extreme wind, wave, and storm conditions. This included assessing floating structures to avoid issues such as pen overtopping and net deflection.

Robust Containment Solutions

The installation incorporates the renowned SeaQureMoor mooring grid, celebrated for its resilience in some of the harshest marine environments in the Northern Hemisphere. Additionally, the SeaQureNet HDPE containment nets and bird nets offer lightweight yet high-breaking strength capabilities for exceptional containment performance and predator protection.

Innovative Pen Design

Among the equipment installed are 120m circumference pens featuring 500mm flotation pipes. The highlight of this installation is the SeaQurePen Ultra, a steel bracket pen specifically engineered for exposed aquaculture sites. Its design boasts heavy-duty galvanized brackets for superior structural integrity and durability, along with engineered tie rods to optimize load distribution.
