JBS Unveils $70 Million Investment Plan for Poultry Expansion in Paraguay

On October 2, during a notable visit from Paraguayan President Santiago Peña to Seara’s facility in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, JBS disclosed an ambitious plan to invest $70 million over the next two years aimed at enhancing its poultry operations within Paraguay.

Initial Phase: Acquisition of Pollos Amanecer

The first phase of this strategic project commenced with the acquisition of Pollos Amanecer, a well-established local chicken brand that operates a facility in Doctor Juan Eulogio Estigarribia, located in the Caaguazú department. The modernization and expansion of this facility will equip it to process up to 100,000 birds daily, focusing predominantly on meeting domestic market demands while also opening doors to new export opportunities.

Enhanced Production Capacity

Once completed, the upgraded production complex will feature 28 breeder farms, hatcheries, and a state-of-the-art feed mill. Presently, the facility draws its chicken supply from 19 farms; however, this number is projected to leap to 139 following the expansive developments.

Strengthening Paraguay’s Global Poultry Position

Gilberto Tomazoni, CEO of JBS Global, underscored that Paraguay offers favorable conditions for the advancement of poultry farming. He expressed confidence that this investment will not only bolster JBS’s competitiveness but also diversify its operational footprint in the region. Furthermore, it’s anticipated that this initiative will significantly bolster Paraguay’s stature in the global poultry industry.

Collaborative Growth Plans

Seara’s growth strategy also envisions collaborative efforts with integrated poultry producers in the surrounding area. Being strategically located in one of Paraguay’s most fertile agricultural zones, the plant’s proximity to grain supplies and major urban centers—such as Asunción, Ciudad del Este, and Luque—essentially contributes to the robustness of this expansion project.
