Meet Trey Braswell
For nearly 150 years, children have been rolling eggs down the hill on the South Lawn of the White House on Easter Monday. Braswell Family Farms has been a proud provider of 112,000 eggs for this iconic event in recent years.
The White House Easter Egg Roll has a rich history dating back to the 1800s, with President Rutherford B. Hayes initiating the tradition on the White House lawn. Today, guests must enter a lottery for tickets to the event, which features storytime, games, and live entertainment.
Humble Beginnings
Established in 1943, Braswell Family Farms has a storied past rooted in the milling industry. Trey Braswell’s great-grandfather and great-great-uncle ventured into the feed and animal production business after acquiring an old gristmill. The family’s journey from grinding corn to raising baby chicks and producing eggs showcases their commitment to innovation and growth.
Despite facing challenges and uncertainties, the Braswell family persevered, expanding their operations to include custom-bagged feed and state-of-the-art facilities. Today, Braswell Family Farms is known as one of the largest Eggland’s Best franchises in the U.S. and a prominent organic feed mill on the East Coast.
Delivering Easter Cheer
Braswell Family Farms has been supplying eggs for the White House Easter Egg Roll, a cherished tradition for American children, in recent years. The elaborate process of hard-cooking, dyeing, and packaging thousands of eggs for the event embodies the company’s dedication to spreading joy and celebration.
Last year, the team at Braswell and Stocked Pot worked tirelessly to prepare over 6,000 eggs per day for eight days, ensuring each egg was dyed to perfection. Trey Braswell’s personal experience of visiting the White House Easter Egg Roll as a child inspired him to continue the legacy of providing quality eggs for this iconic event.
