Introducing the Sanitation Safety Certification Program for the Poultry Industry
The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) is proud to unveil an innovative certification program aimed at enhancing safety and sanitation standards across the poultry industry. This pilot initiative, titled Sanitation Safety for the Poultry Industry, is the first of its kind and is designed for workers in every sector of poultry production.
Program Objectives
The primary aim of this certification program is to ensure safe and sanitized working environments that ultimately lead to high-quality poultry products. Developed by a team of industry experts and professionals from Georgia Tech Safety, Health and Environmental Services, the program offers a third-party certification focused on sanitation safety.
Certification Process
To achieve certification, workers must participate in a training course conducted by a certified Sanitation Safety trainer. This training is organized and scheduled by the poultry company and can take place either at the USPOULTRY office or at a location selected by the member company. Each participant will receive comprehensive training materials and will engage in a session, culminating in a written examination. Upon successful completion of the course, individuals will be awarded a certificate of completion.
Available Certifications
There are two distinct certifications offered under the Sanitation Safety program:
- Certified Poultry Sanitation Worker: This certification can be customized to align with a company’s unique requirements. Training modules can be taught in isolation or as a collective series. The certification remains valid for three years, after which individuals are required to undergo retraining.
- Train the Trainer: This certification equips trainers with the necessary skills to instruct poultry sanitation workers, management, maintenance personnel, and other industry stakeholders on best sanitation practices. Trainers will receive thorough guidance on structuring a course and effectively teaching sanitation protocols.
Eligibility and Additional Information
USPOULTRY extends this training program to member companies and sanitation contractors affiliated with USPOULTRY members. For further details regarding the certification program, visit the USPOULTRY website.
