Walmart and Wing to Expand Drone Delivery Services Across the U.S.

In a groundbreaking initiative, Walmart has teamed up with drone delivery company Wing to broaden their service footprint. This year, they plan to bring drone delivery to an additional 150 Walmart locations across the United States. Upon completion of this expansion, over 270 Walmart stores will provide the convenience of same-day drone delivery.

Current Operations and New Markets

The expansion builds on existing drone delivery services in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Metro Atlanta areas, where consumers are already enjoying the convenience of quick deliveries for everyday items. According to Wing, frequent users of the service are placing drone orders approximately three times a week, a trend that has seen a remarkable tripling in overall deliveries in just the past six months.

The new locations set to offer drone delivery include major cities such as Los Angeles, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Miami, with additional markets to be announced in the future. Furthermore, Walmart and Wing are progressing with previously planned launches in Houston, Orlando, Tampa, and Charlotte, with Houston’s service set to kick off on January 15.

Customer Convenience and Rapid Delivery

“Drone delivery plays an important role in our ability to deliver what customers want, exactly when they want it,” said Greg Cathey, Senior Vice President of Digital Fulfillment at Walmart. “Whether it’s a last-minute ingredient for dinner, a must-have charger for a phone, or a late-night essential for a busy family, the strong adoption we’ve seen confirms that this is the future of convenience.”

Echoing this sentiment, Wing CEO Adam Woodworth remarked, “We believe even the smallest package deserves the speed and reliability of a great delivery service. Working with Walmart has allowed us to prove that delivering these critical, everyday items in minutes makes a significant difference for families.”

Ongoing Innovations in Delivery

Walmart’s commitment to fast delivery solutions extends beyond drone technology. In 2025, the retail giant started same-day refrigerated and prescription delivery from select stores, significantly optimizing the process for cold groceries and essential medications. By the end of the previous year, Walmart reported delivering roughly 35% of digital orders within three hours through its comprehensive network of stores and fulfillment points.

This expansion of drone delivery services highlights Walmart’s dedication to meeting customer needs through innovative logistical solutions, ensuring convenience remains at the forefront of their operations.
