Dalby Cattle Sale Report: Market Insights and Trends
Yarding: 4747 Change: -158
Market Overview
A minor decline in supply was observed this week at Dalby, with a total of 4,747 head sold, reflecting a decrease of 158 head from last week’s sale. The overall quality of cattle across various classes did not match the previous week’s standards. While export buyer attendance was less robust than last week, southern exporters returned and actively participated in the market. A solid panel of feed and trade buyers, along with restockers, were present and engaged.
Light-weight yearling steers returning to paddock saw prices firm or increase by up to 11 cents per kilogram. Yearling steers destined for the domestic market fetched 7 cents more in some instances, while heavy-weight yearling steers remained in demand. Light-weight yearling heifers for restocking improved by 9 to 12 cents per kilogram, while yearling heifers for feeding experienced price changes between stable and 6 cents higher. However, cow prices declined by 4 to 10 cents per kilogram, partly due to quality concerns.
Price Breakdown
Light-weight yearling steers for restocking achieved prices up to 477 cents, averaging between 429 and 435 cents per kilogram.
