Dubbo’s latest cattle yarding saw an increase of 230, totaling 3820 cattle on site.
The quality was robust, featuring well-finished grown cattle and yearlings suitable
for processors, alongside a fair number of options for feeders. Cows were adequately
represented, with additional numbers coming from the far west. While most usual buyers
participated, notable absences included a southern export processor and a central west
feeder buyer.
Market Trends for Young Cattle
Young cattle headed to trade showcased a price increase of 4c to 9c/kg.
Prime vealers achieved a price point of 412c/kg, while prime yearlings sold within
the range of 320c to 412c/kg.
Feeder steers remained stable to slightly improved, with prices rising by up to 6c/kg.
Conversely, feeder heifers experienced a decline of up to 20c/kg. The price for feeder
steers ranged between 340c to 466c, with feeder heifers priced from 290c to 406c/kg.
Although some young cattle aimed at restockers became less expensive, young steers still
fetched up to 463c, while young heifers sold for a maximum of 346c/kg.
Grown Cattle and Cows
Grown steers and heifers saw notable price increases of 16c to 25c/kg, with
prime grown steers selling between 360c to 428c. Prime grown heifers ranged from
320c to 413c/kg. The most prominent cows remained stable, showing a slight decrease
of 3c, whereas secondary cows experienced a price uplift of 10c/kg.
In detail, 2 and 3 score cows were priced from 175c to 293c, while prime heavy weight
cows varied between 230c to 344c, averaging around 311c/kg. Heavy bulls priced at a
peak of 336c/kg rounded off the transactions.
