Normex Achieves Groundbreaking Partnership in Asia with Mirae Aquafarm

The Norwegian technology company Normex has made a significant stride in the Asian market by signing a major supply contract with Mirae Aquafarm. Located in Pohang, South Korea, Mirae Aquafarm is a pioneering land-based facility dedicated to salmon farming. This agreement not only signifies a critical breakthrough for Normex in Asia but also marks the company’s inaugural major project in the region.

A Comprehensive Water Treatment Solution

The contract entails the delivery and installation of Normex’s cutting-edge Razone water treatment system across the aquafarming facility. Upon completion, the farm is projected to achieve an impressive production capacity of 10,000 tons of salmon each year.

Stig Ove Johansen, CEO of Normex, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership: “This is a strategic milestone for us. It confirms the international relevance of our technology.” In addition to the Razone system, Normex will also deliver solutions for wastewater, intake water, and pre-harvest purification.

Innovative Technology Driving Sustainability

Designed specifically for Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), the Razone system is a high-tech solution that efficiently removes microparticles, lowers microbiological loads, and maintains consistent water clarity. Such features are crucial for ensuring stable production conditions and promoting fish health while effectively utilizing biomass and minimizing risk.

“The market is increasingly seeking solutions that integrate sustainability, biosecurity, and operational efficiency. Razone directly meets these demands. Moreover, the system’s remote monitoring capability positions us well for further international growth,” adds Johansen.

Mirae Aquafarm’s CEO, Suhyung Cho, also reflected on the importance of this collaboration: “We’ve spent considerable time finding the right partners, and we look forward to working with Normex on this ambitious project.”

A Strategic Entry Point into South Korea

Normex’s entry into the South Korean market is a direct outcome of its involvement in Innovation Norway’s Global Growth program, which has provided the company with essential market insights and connections to key decision-makers in the region.

To further bolster its presence in Southeast Asia, Normex has partnered with Aquapro Ltd., a Korean company that will act as the local representative and technical support partner. Johansen remarked, “With Aquapro on board, we’re strengthening our presence in Southeast Asia. We’ve already launched new projects together and see significant potential for further expansion in the region.”
