Moo & Oink Celebrates 50 Years of Flavor and Community
Moo & Oink, the iconic Chicago-based meat brand celebrated for its delicious hot links and rib tips, is gearing up for a momentous 50th anniversary in 2026. Since its inception in 1976, the brand has become synonymous with cookouts, block parties, and family gatherings across the Chicagoland area.
A Year of Celebration
To commemorate this remarkable milestone, Moo & Oink is planning a yearlong series of engaging events, new product launches, and special festivities at retail locations. Look out for a commemorative 50th Anniversary badge on Moo & Oink packaging, in-store sampling events, appearances by the brand’s beloved mascot, and vibrant displays at various retailers.
“Moo & Oink has always been about bringing people together,” stated Josephine Beavers, chairperson of Beavers Holdings. “For 50 years, this brand has been part of Chicago’s neighborhoods and celebrations, and we’re honored to carry that tradition forward. This anniversary is a thank-you to the customers who grew up with us, the retailers who stood by us, and the city that continues to make Moo & Oink a true Chicago original.”
Nostalgic Touches and Modern Engagement
The festivities will also feature nostalgic throwbacks, an updated rendition of the beloved jingle, and interactive experiences across the brand’s social media platforms throughout the year. These initiatives aim to resonate with longtime fans while capturing the attention of new customers.
Revitalization and Growth
The Moo & Oink we know today saw a revitalization in 2012 when Best Chicago Meat Co. acquired the brand’s intellectual property for $530,000 at a public auction following the original stores’ Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing. Best Chicago Meat, a second-generation Black-owned family business, had been producing burgers and sausages for Moo & Oink for 30 years before taking ownership of the brand.
Since then, the brand has successfully reintroduced its products to grocery store shelves in Chicagoland and has expanded its distribution throughout the Midwest, forming partnerships with retailers such as Roundy’s banners Pick ‘n Save and Rainbow. In response to growing consumer demand, an e-commerce website was launched in 2013, allowing fans from out of town to access their favorite products.
A Diverse Product Lineup
Moo & Oink offers a wide array of products, including hot links, mild links, rib tips, breakfast sausage, chicken nuggets, BBQ sauce, and seasonings. Today, these beloved products are available at grocery stores across the Midwest, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the flavors that have delighted Chicagoans for decades.
