Yarding Overview
Total Yardings: 5800 Change: +950
This week’s yarding numbers saw a significant increase of nearly 1,000 head, reaching a total of 5,800. However, the overall quality of the cattle was less uniform, with a notable presence of secondary cows and their young calves, primarily in store condition. There were also a fair number of young cattle available for feedlots, but prime grown steers and heifers were scarce.
Cattle Prices
Young Cattle to Trade: Prices remained steady, with prime yearlings selling between 402c and 486c per kilogram. Meanwhile, feeder steers experienced a slight increase of 2c to 4c, selling in a range of 436c to 518c, while feeder heifers rose by 12c, priced between 394c and 453c per kilogram.
Restocker Interest: Young cattle sold to restockers faced strong competition, with young steers fetching up to 550c and restocker heifers reaching 470c per kilogram.
Grown Stock: The few available grown steers maintained stable pricing, while grown heifers increased by 12c. Prime grown steers sold for 417c, and prime grown heifers were priced between 388c and 432c per kilogram.
Cows and Bulls
Secondary cow prices rose by 10c to 20c, whereas properly finished heavy-weight cows increased by 5c per kilogram. Two and three-score cows were trading from 260c to 361c per kilogram, while prime heavy-weight cows averaged 371c, selling between 355c and 383c. Cows sold to restockers fetched prices from 290c to 349c.
Bulls: Heavy bulls also saw an increase of 12c, with prices reaching up to 404c per kilogram.
