DESMI Reports Solid Performance in Core Businesses as 2024 Comes to a Close

In 2024, DESMI has reaffirmed its status as a leader in Flow Technology solutions, effectively optimizing critical processes for key applications across diverse industries. Despite a contraction in the Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) market due to impending regulatory deadlines affecting various marine vessels, the remainder of DESMI’s operations demonstrated robust performance. The company reported revenues consistent with the record levels achieved in 2023.

2024 Financial Overview

During the year, DESMI achieved a total revenue of DKK 1,704 million, reflecting a 13% decrease compared to the previous year. This decline is primarily attributed to the anticipated downturn in the BWMS market. The earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) stood at DKK 176 million, a drop from DKK 243 million in 2023.

2024 not only marked the celebration of DESMI’s 190th anniversary but also highlighted the company’s proactive approach through its new growth strategy. This strategy emphasizes both organic and acquisitive growth within Flow Technology, aimed at ensuring the sustainability and ongoing success of DESMI and its clientele—upholding the company’s mission to “Make life flow.”

Strategic Acquisition

In line with its growth ambitions, DESMI announced the acquisition of Nordan Marine in February 2025. Nordan Marine is recognized as a reliable partner in the maritime sector, specializing in service and repair solutions for cargo and fuel handling systems. This acquisition not only strengthens DESMI’s position but also bolsters its growth strategy.

Nordan Marine’s expertise encompasses systems utilized in LPG, LEG carriers, as well as LNG and alternative fuel-capable vessels, thereby enhancing DESMI’s capabilities in providing comprehensive solutions for its customers.
