Dramatic Changes in Dubbo Saleyards: Market Report

The Dubbo saleyards experienced gentle rain throughout the morning, resulting in a
reduction of 300 cattle for a total yarding of 2810. The quality was fair, with a strong
selection of young cattle appealing to feedlots, while there were only a few lots suited for processors.
Notably, a greater number of grown steers and heifers were present; however, various cattle lacked finish due to
persistent dry conditions in the far west.
Cattle Prices Overview
Young cattle aimed at the trade exhibited stable prices. Prime vealers and yearlings were sold at
rates ranging from 340c to 410c/kg. Feeder steers and heifers increased by 10c to 15c,
with feeder steers achieving 370c to 422c/kg and feeder heifers selling between 336c to 385c/kg.
Additionally, young cattle for restockers saw price increases, with young steers fetching
up to 442c and young bulls up to 460c/kg. Young heifers returning to paddocks sold for
approximately 380c/kg.
Grown Cattle Market Trends
Prices for grown steers remained consistent, whereas grown heifers saw an increase of 12c.
Prime grown steers ranged from 340c to 390c, while grown heifers sold between 344c to 372c/kg.
The price of cows rose by up to 25c, with 2 and 3 scores selling from 170c to 275c/kg.
Prime heavy weight cows averaged around 300c/kg, selling at a range of 270c to 318c.
Cows aimed at restockers were priced between 108c to 232c/kg, while heavy bulls reached up to 328c/kg.
