Cargill Agrees to $32.5 Million Settlement in Turkey Price-Fixing Case
Cargill has reached a $32.5 million settlement with a group of turkey buyers, putting an end to allegations of price-fixing in the turkey industry. This agreement, if approved, will bring the total recovery for the Direct Purchaser Plaintiffs (DPPs) Class to $37.1 million, including a previous settlement with Tyson Foods in 2021.
As part of the settlement, Cargill has also pledged to assist the DPPs in their ongoing legal actions against other defendants who have not yet settled. The plaintiffs have requested interim payments to cover legal fees, case expenses, and service awards, which will be reviewed at a fairness hearing.
Once the settlement is finalized and approved, all claims against Cargill will be dismissed, allowing for the distribution of settlement funds to the affected parties. This marks a significant step towards resolving the price-fixing allegations in the turkey industry.
