MSC UK Product of the Year 2025: Vote for Your Favorite Sustainable Seafood
Fifteen products vie for public’s vote for MSC UK Product of the Year – Consumer Choice Award, from fish and chips to cat food, and Omega-3 supplements.

In an exciting twist, votes also enter participants into a draw to win an Aquaplanet inflatable kayak valued at £579 or one of two Nautilus 23-litre backpacks by Finisterre. This initiative not only highlights amazing sustainable products but also rewards consumers for their involvement.
A Diverse Range of Sustainable Offerings
The shortlist, featuring 15 impressive contenders, showcases a wide spectrum of certified sustainable seafood available in UK shops. From premium dinner options to the first-ever pet food entry, this year’s MSC UK Product of the Year – Consumer Choice Award demonstrates both variety and quality that consumers can trust.
Among this year’s contenders are cherished family meals, including:
- Battered cod fillets from Asda and Sainsbury’s
- Battered cod and chips from Iceland
- Co-op’s fish pie
- Bird’s Eye’s Captain’s Discoveries Dusted Lemon and Pepper Fish Fillets
- Lidl’s salmon and pea risotto
Chilled and Tinned Selections
Shoppers can also cast their votes for various chilled products, including:
- Waitrose’s No.1 Moules Mariniere with Wild Garlic and Chardonnay
- Fish Said Fred Smoked Haddock
- LEAP Wild Smoked Sockeye Salmon
Additionally, tinned selections from Princes and John West, along with Delicius anchovy fillets from Cantabria, are also on the shortlist. Health-focused products like Wiley’s Finest Peak EPA fish oil and Sheba Filets Chicken with sustainable tuna represent both the health and pet food markets.

Last year, Tesco’s Finest Cornish Sardines in Tomato Sauce emerged victorious, receiving over 10,000 votes in a fiercely competitive race.

Seth McCurry, MSC UK & Ireland Senior Commercial Manager, emphasized the significance of this year’s diverse product selection. “The diversity of products on this year’s shortlist gives shoppers a flavor of the range of sustainable seafood currently available in UK stores,” he noted. “It’s wonderful to see this variety competing for the award, and I’m sure it will be a closely contested vote.”
