Dalby Cattle Market Update
Market Overview
Yarding: 5326 | Change: -239
This week at Dalby, the number of cattle penned witnessed a slight decrease, dropping by 239 head to a total of 5326. Southern export buyers were notably competitive for higher-quality bullocks and cows, although not all regular buyers were present. A solid mix of feed and trade buyers, along with restockers, ensured active participation in the market.
Cattle Prices & Trends
Light-weight yearling steers returning to paddocks struggled to match prior sale levels, leading to reduced prices in several instances. Meanwhile, medium and heavy-weight yearling steers for feeding remained largely stable, reflecting only quality-related price variations. Lightweight yearling heifers showed good demand, but most other categories trended downwards. The heavy-weight grown steers and bullocks, however, saw robust demand with prices increasing.
About 1,300 cows were penned, and buyers managed to absorb the larger supply, lifting prices by 8c to 12c/kg.
